Gaple Dominoes Game Rules

  • Gaple Dominoes is a popular Indonesian variant of block dominoes game played using double-six dominoes set. The game is played by 4 or 5 players. This version is made for 4 players.
  • Each player gets 6 tiles at the start of each round and one tile is placed at the center to start the layout. Remaining 3 tiles are set aside and not used in the round.
  • In the first round, a player is selected randomly to take the first turn. Subsequent rounds are started by winner of the previous round.
  • Player on his/her turn places a matching tile at one of the two ends of the layout.
  • There is no spinner in the game so a double can only be played at two ends.
  • If a player can not play, then he/she must discard a tile face-down. Discarded tiles by a player are counted against him/her while calculating score at the end of each round.
  • The round ends if a player has played all of his/her tiles. Round can also end if the game is blocked and no tile can be played by any player.
  • All players individually count pips of unplayed tiles and discarded tiles if any. The player with smallest pips count wins the round. If two players have same pips count, then the player with a tile with lowest pip count from unplayed tiles wins. If that is also equal then the player who has lowest end in his/her lowest tile wins.
  • Points are awarded to the player by counting difference of his/her pips count and each of the other players who have a higher pips count for that round.
  • The game is played for multiple rounds and first player to score 100 points wins.
